Sight Words
50-75% of all words in books are simple, common words repeated over and over again. We call these words “Sight Words” because these are the words we need to identify quickly (or by sight) to read most text. Sight words must be recognized at a glance before a child can read with confidence.
Please practice with your child on a regular basis so that he/she can easily recognize, read, and write these words. Your child should know the meanings of the words and be able to use these words in a complete sentence.
